How can I get more clients?

If you’ve had a change in frequency of clients, or are looking for more or less clients, let Heidi (referrals@communitydoulaprogram.com) know.

In addition to clients provided by the CDP, you are also encouraged to find your own client within your community. Some ways of doing this are…

  • Reach Out to Friends and Family: Let those around you know that you’re a passionate doula who loves your work. A strong word-of-mouth reputation can be one of the most effective ways to gain clients.
  • Create Social Media Accounts: Develop social media profiles dedicated to your doula business to connect with potential clients and showcase your services.
  • Network with Other Professionals: Reach out to prenatal yoga instructors, other doulas, childbirth educators, and other professionals who may be able to refer clients to you.
  • Participate in Community Events: Attend tabling events in your community to meet people and share information about your services.
  • Distribute Flyers: Design and post flyers on community boards and in places that serve pregnant individuals, such as healthcare providers, wellness centers, and local shops.
  • Promote Medicaid Coverage: Share information about Medicaid coverage for doula services and the CDP on your personal or business social media accounts. Many people are still unaware that this service is covered by Medicaid.
  • Use Branded Items: Advertise by wearing CDP t-shirts or by displaying the CDP logo on items like your water bottle or laptop.
  • Create and Distribute Business Cards: Make business cards that highlight that Medicaid clients can receive services at no charge. Leave them at locations frequented by pregnant individuals, such as chiropractor offices, massage centers, prenatal yoga classes, and baby boutiques.
  • Talk With People in the Community: When you meet someone who is pregnant, strike up a conversation and hand them a business card with your name on it.
