How do I get a backup doula?

All CDP doulas are required to have a backup doula. There are a handful of ways you can find a backup doula:

  • We have a list of on-call doulas available here. You can access this spreadsheet on the CDP Private Doula Page, just scroll down to “Sign Up to Be an Insta-Doula”.
  • Look through the Doula Directory to find CDP doulas in your area!
  • You can post on the CDP Facebook page and see who is available and interested.
  • If no one is available, you can reach out to Heidi Donahue or Yesenia Sequera for support.

Once you’ve figured out who is going to be your backup doula, you need to make sure that your client knows who the backup is and how to reach them. Please also make sure your backup knows exactly when their services will be needed or if they are no longer needed (i.e. the client gave birth, discontinued services, etc).

InstaDoula Emergency Backup: The InstaDoula service is designed for emergency situations only and is available exclusively to English-speaking clients in Linn and Benton counties who have insurance coverage through IHN, OHP, CAWEM, or PacificSource Community Solutions.

If your client meets these criteria and you do not anticipate needing a backup doula, you should provide them with the InstaDoula backup number: (541) 360-8699. This ensures that in the event of an unforeseen emergency where you may become unreachable, your client will still have access to a doula through the InstaDoula service.
