What if I meet someone that’s interested in having me as their doula?

If a potential client is interested in having you as their doula, you can submit a referral on their behalf through the Community Doula Program (CDP) website. Here’s how:

  1. Visit the CDP Website:
    • Go to the Community Doula Program website.
    • Click on “Care Providers,” then select “Refer a Client” or go to this link
  2. Complete the Referral Form:
    • Enter your name as the provider since you are submitting the referral.
    • Provide as much information as possible about the client, including either their Medicaid ID number or their date of birth. This is essential for insurance verification.
    • In the “Specific Details for Doula Matching” box, you can write a note like “Please assign the client to me” or something similar. If you have the client’s Medicaid ID number, you can include it here as well.
  3. Submit the Form:
    • After submitting, the referral link will be generated and sent to you via email. You can then begin providing services to your client.

At the absolute minimum, Heidi and Yesenia need the client’s name, phone number, and birthday or the client’s name, phone number, and insurance number so we can confirm they are eligible for CDP doula services. Once the referral is submitted and their insurance confirmed, either Heidi or Yesenia will send the referral your way! If you provide any services to the client prior to receiving an official referral from the CDP, you may not be reimbursed for those services. You are also required to have your client sign the confidentiality release and letter of agreement prior to providing any services to them – if you do not, this can also impact reimbursement.
