Why:
At the Community Doula Program (CDP), we believe that strong and healthy communities begin with safe and equitable births. The CDP is a national leader in a proven approach for helping families get the best possible start in life: culturally matched doulas provided free of charge.
In the US we spend more money on maternity healthcare than any other country and yet more women and babies die than in any other high-income nation. And, the people we’re losing most are Black and Indigenous. Research shows that doulas are a key to improving this devastating situation.
Doulas help families navigate the health care system and provide birthing families one-on-one education and support, resulting in healthier, happier starts for parents and babies. We are committed to recruiting, training and reimbursing diverse doulas who come from the same communities as the families we serve.Â
Join us to learn about opportunities to help support birth justice in our communities and to celebrate the amazing doulas and advocates who make this work possible.
We need your help to ensure that the Community Doula Program can continue to help improve birth outcomes by providing culturally- and linguistically-matched doulas in Linn, Benton, Lincoln, Lane, Marion, and Polk counties.
The Community Doula Program is a project of Valley Birth and Beyond, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Your donations (above the cash value of the food served) are tax-deductible.
